Rob Dewey last night refused to set his sights on a quick Scotland comeback, despite an impressive showing which inspired the A team to secure a place in the Barclays Churchill Cup Final.
The Ulster centre claimed one try and had a hand in two others as the Scots edged Argentina Pumas 27-24 in Kingston, Ontario.
Dewey, whose career has been blighted by a series of injuries over the past year since his departure from Edinburgh, said: "I have had a frustrating time of it, so it has been good to be involved in this tour. I feel my performance against Argentina was another notch up from the one against Canada, however I am not looking any further ahead than the next match."
The coach, Rob Moffat, added: "I was delighted with the display and the result. I thought thought we played some good rugby and scored four top-class tries."
Scotland put Argentina under pressure from the start and Dewey was close to putting them ahead with only six minutes, but in the 16th minute they finally got the breakthrough with a try from the winger, Andrew Turnbull.
The visitors struck again nine minutes later when Dewey was rewarded for his hard work with a try after Scotland stole possession from a lineout. Argentina, though, battled back and early in the second half had closed to within two points.
But Scotland repaired the damage with tries from Jim Thompson, who chipped over the head of his opposite man and collected to go over from almost 40 yards out, and Colin Gregor.
Despite losing a try in the final 10 minutes, Scotland managed to hang on.
