I must take issue with Kenneth P Colville's description of Celtic's win against Inter Milan in the 1967 European Cup final as "a narrow victory in a very dull game". He should be ashamed of himself. Celtic beat one of the most fancied Italian teams ever. The manner in which the Celtic team outclassed their opponents is legendary. I suggest he sit down and watch the game, as I can only assume he has never done so.
Robert McGonigle, Bearsden
Celtic beat Inter Milan by playing "pure, beautiful, inventive football" according to Jock Stein. But what would he know?
Am I the only person who is weary of Mr Colville and his negativity towards Celtic and Rangers?
Andrew Kelly, Isle of Bute
May 25, 1967 is a date of which all Scottish football fans should be proud. The only way the match could be construed as being dull perhaps is because it was so one-sided: it was 2-1 going on 5-1 or 6-1. Clearly, it was not only some English commentators who failed to give Celtic credit but sadly some of our people who may have been consumed by envy.
