Perhaps, after Andy Murray's thrashing by Rafa Nadal, the Scottish tennis press might just concede that Tim Henman wasn't a "loser" or "bottler" after all.
History shows that Henman wasn't quite good enough to win Wimbledon but that didn't make him a bad player. His four semi-final appearances, including two defeats to Pete Sampras (still the best-ever on grass) and a match where he came within two points of beating Goran Ivanisevic, was a fine record.
Murray now knows it takes a lot more than one back-from-the-dead victory to win Wimbledon and that he still has some way to go before he can take on the likes of Nadal and Roger Federer at a major.

All picture, no sound
Following on from W Brown's comments on Scott Booth's commentary (Fans with laptops, July 2), I have to nominate the worst-ever commentator as Archie MacPherson and, for years,
I have been watching games in which he commentates with the sound turned off.
He is an expert at guessing decisions such as "I think it's a . . . pause while he waits on referee corner. It is!!"
Next time he commentates, have a side bet with your mates on how many times Archie uses the words "I think".
You may just have to use all your fingers and toes.

Something missing from Euro 2008
TV viewing was pretty much the same old, same old at Euro 2008, but there was one thing missing from football reports and news broadcasts. Where were the water cannons and riot police which have become familiar at international competitions in Europe.
Could it be that they weren't required because the Three Lions were still in their den singing about two world wars and a World Cup?
I could be wrong.

Underachievers? No-one expects England to win
GORDON higgins (Fans with Laptops, July 2) is wrong to suggest the England football team are underachievers. This term refers to someone of whom much is expected but who fails to deliver. No-one expects those overpaid, arrogant dimwits to achieve anything.
