In response to J Rawlins (Fans with Laptops, June 24), he obviously does not understand the fundamentals of the golf swing.
Any golfer who has played to a decent level understands that good use of the legs is a key factor in developing power and enables the player to rotate on the backswing and therefore enable a good shoulder turn.
This is a fault in the swing of many high-handicappers, and the reason they do not achieve their full potential.

Tip looks like it may pay a large dividend
I would like to thank Darryl Broadfoot for his article last month on the Russian football team, as reading it inspired me to bet on them to win Euro 2008 at odds of 33-1.
Although this hasn't yet happened, the signs are good, and with Andrei Arshavin and Roman Pavyluchenko playing the way they are, I look forward to collecting my winnings next Sunday and I will happily buy him a pint or two!

Italians got exactly what they deserved
I BACKED Italy to win Euro 2008 before the tournament started, but shed no tears
in watching them lose to Spain on penalties.
Their boring display reminded me of Rangers' run to the UEFA Cup final in that they made little real attempt to win the game, with only one striker on the field.
The contrast between Italy and Russia's scintillating display against the Netherlands 24 hours earlier was as stark as that between Zenit St Petersburg and Rangers in the UEFA Cup.
It is to be hoped, for the sake of football as a whole, that the entertainers will always prevail over the win-at-all-cost merchants, since the cost might be the future of the game itself.
