UEFA the real culprit' in fixtures chaos
One major issue that has been overlooked in all the fixtures chaos is Uefa's scheduling of their matches.
When Celtic qualified for the Champions League in 2001 their six group games were scheduled between September 12 and October 24 (seven weeks).
To ease this burden on clubs, Uefa has protracted the group stages to mid-December (13 weeks). However, in the Uefa Cup, the two finalists are being asked to play a quarter-final, a semi-final and a final between April 3 and May 14 (six weeks). The SFA should be encouraging Uefa to address this issue.

Rangers spend large amounts of money stripping smaller SPL clubs of their best players so that they have a squad big enough, and strong enough, to compete in all the competitions they enter, and then, when they are successful, they want fixtures postponed.
I think I can guess the opinion of most supporters of clubs outwith the old firm. Tough!

James McGoldrick (Fans with Laptops, May 7) continues the petty jibes at Rangers by those green with envy.
I would be "embarassed" if I was in Rangers' shoes he claims, remarking on their ultra-defensive style.
I would have thought the real embarassment is that his own team have scored fewer goals in the Champions League (9-11), fewer in old firm games (5-7) and barely more in the league with three games more played than the ultra-defensive Rangers.
So much for "statistical integrity".

Come on down...
I have just been reading letters from Rangers fans to our local paper, the Manchester Evening News, and I am very disappointed they have been given the impression that they are unwelcome if they don't have tickets for the final. I am delighted Rangers have reached the final and I wish all connected with the club success and a very enjoyable time in our city.
The behaviour of fans from both Glasgow clubs in recent times has been a credit to Glasgow and Scotland. I wish the same could be said of English teams' supporters. Good luck to the Gers.
