Rangers not entirely faultless in fixture chaos
Recently, Walter Smith accused Peter Lawwell of being disingenuous, but the Rangers manager leaves himself wide open to similar accusations when he ventures into the arena of fixture
pile-up precedents and
match cancellations.
In the case of Celtic and fixture alterations in the run up to the 2003 UEFA Cup final, rather than the SPL initiating action to enhance Celtic's chances of success, it was Dundee who volunteered to play a league match three days earlier than scheduled.
In light of the above, rather than carping, perhaps Walter should be asking why nobody in Scottish football appears to be falling over themselves to help Rangers out.
It should not be forgotten that in requesting and being granted (Aberdeen were later refused a similar request) not only a postponement, but also one against the poorest side ever to set foot in the SPL, Rangers have made their own willing contribution to the present fixture congestion.

Raymond Bond
(Local Hero, May 2) is a credit to sport not just in
his adopted Stirling but throughout Scotland, where thousands of young cricketers have benefitted from his coaching and the unstinted time he has offered to the game. I remember Raymond from my many visits to Williamfield with the then Dunbartonshire Youth cricketers, where we were always welcomed by
Raymond, the game was umpired by Raymond, the teas were served by Raymond and finally the dressing rooms were cleaned by Raymond.
Indeed a credit to the game and surely when honours come around again Raymond Bond's name will top the nominations.
I am quite sure a mere hip replacement will not curb his enthusiasm and I fully expect him to keep on producing young players for many years.

Focus on Harrison Snr
Why do you concentrate on stories on Scott Harrison and never mention the good work that his father Peter Harrison is doing with young Scottish boxers? Surely you should be encouraging these boys?
