Mixed emotions over Scotland withdrawals

As a Rangers supporter, maybe I should be pleased that some of our players have been withdrawn from the national squad ahead of the match with Croatia. However, as a Scotland supporter I am disappointed at the number of key players missing what really is a crucial match for George Burley and Scotland. This not a good example to set to other players.

Surely Scotland captain Barry Ferguson at least should have remained with the squad in order that morale is kept on a high, or does Barry only want to be involved when it suits him? Scotland need to win as many matches as possible to maintain their world ranking, and thus ensure seeding against so-called easier teams in future competitions.

Missing the point
Douglas Lowe Final Say, TuesdaySport joined Paul Lawrie, Stephen Gallacher and now Alastair Forsyth in having a swipe at Colin Montgomerie's statement about the record of Scottish professional golfers. However, not one of them has managed to refute the core of his argument that over the last 20 years their record has been abysmal. Forsyth should be ashamed of his number of wins on tour which, I understand, is two in 10 years. The Scots on the Seniors Tour have a better record, I think that says it all.

No show at Ayr
WHERE was the coverage of Saturday's Ayr v Glasgow Hawks match in Monday's Herald? Every other Scottish Hydro Electric Premier league fixture was covered apart from the match at Millbrae. The result was given but nothing else.

Well done boys
CONGRATULATIONS to Ross Mathie and his Scotland Under-17 team on qualifying for the European Youth Championships. Great news.
