In reply to Caoimhin Cordell (Fans With Laptops, March 21) the skew in the Premier League was that Dundee United and Aberdeen won the league title four times in seven years because they had two of the greatest managers in Scottish history and the Old Firm, especially Rangers, were in the doldrums.
Rangers never recorded home attendances below 8000 in the two seasons before Souness' arrival.
I cannot state that for the previous season (83-84) as records were unreliable. Average attendances in all these seasons were above 17,000, which increased dramatically after "the revolution" and undoubtedly enabled Rangers to increase their spending power.
Steven Stark, Kilmarnock
Rangers had the highest average league attendances (well above 5000-8000) in two of those three seasons and weren't far off the highest in the third, despite finishing fourth (twice) and fifth.

Kevin Ferrie 100%
correct . . . or was he?
Kevin Ferrie delivered the most balanced article I've read on the post-mortem of Scotland's RBS 6 Nations Championship.
The criticism levelled at Frank Hadden and players has been disproportionate. Hadden is a decent man and should be given more time to continue to build and develop a relatively young squad.
I'm a fan who wants Scotland to challenge for the honours in all our sports, but we need to be realistic, particularly given the small number of players we have relative to our rivals.
We need investment at grassroots level, with political commitment to provide better facilities. It is only then that you will get young lads started and sticking with the sport.

If I did not know better,
I would be convinced that Kevin Ferrie was a former pupil of Frank Hadden.
The series of articles showing undying loyalty has to stop.
Where was that something special that Hadden promised the travelling support both in the World Cup and the Six Nations?
Why are Scotland now the most boring team in world rugby?
Change is required.
