Alan Gow's hopes of a move to Norwich City appear to have evaporated, despite the Coca-Cola Championship side showing no signs of letting up after their recent spending spree.
Glenn Roeder, the Norwich manager, had previously expressed an interest in the 25-year-old Rangers attacker, but the Carrow Road club yesterday completed the signing of winger David Bell from Luton Town.
Reports in England suggest Roeder is poised to continue his summer recruitment in the coming days after the arrivals of Sammy Clingan, Dejan Stefanovic, former Livingston winger Wes Hoolahan, Ryan Bertrand and Elliott Omozusi. However, the latest indications are that Gow is not on the list of targets, with Roeder interested in a host of new strikers including Shola Ameobi, Grezgorz Rasiak and Steve Howard.
The Norwich manager said: "I feel pretty confident we'll have another two by the middle of the week and I'd like to think before the start of next week there'll be another one or two in as well. Then the squad will be starting to take shape that will give us a good opportunity to have a better season than we did last year."
Gow turned down the opportunity to move to Burnley last month as part of the transfer that brought Kyle Lafferty to Ibrox.
He went to Norwich to see the facilities and agree personal terms until a failed takeover bid for the club froze the transfer.
The former Falkirk man, a Scotland B internationalist, has been frozen out at Ibrox and played just twice for Walter Smith's men, in cup wins over third division clubs East Fife last September and East Stirlingshire in January.
Meanwhile, Rangers have agreed to allow goalkeeper Lee Robinson to return to Morton on loan for a second season. David Irons, the manager at Cappielow, hopes to seal a deal in the coming days.
