Annika Sorenstam makes her last appearance as a professional in Europe this weekend at the Nykredit Master.
The Swede, who will retire at the end of the season to start a family and pursue business interests, headlines the Ladies European Tour event at Simon's Golf Club.
"I'm happy to be here and look forward to playing here in Denmark," Sorenstam said on the eve of the 54-hole tournament. "I'm on a kind of goodbye tour and am happy to play in some of the countries that I don't get the chance to visit too often."
The 37-year-old, who has won three times on the LPGA Tour this year, was invited to play by Solheim Cup teammate Iben Tinning of Denmark, who is competing on her home course.
"It was Iben who convinced me to play in the Nykredit Masters when we played in Dubai last winter," said Sorenstam. "Every tournament is a goodbye for me, and now I look forward to soaking up the atmosphere in Denmark."
She is paired with Martina Eberl of Germany, the recent BMW Ladies Italian Open champion, and Tinning in the first two rounds.
Lisa Hall of England is the defending champion. She won last year in a one-hole playoff at Helsingor Golf Club.
Officials have rescheduled the first round to be played today at Bellerive, and plan to play 36 holes on Saturday to get the event back on track for a Sunday finish.
"We've had just under three inches of rain and we're looking at upwards of four," said PGA Tour tournament director Slugger White. "We've got a mess out there. It may be as bad as I've seen in a long time. The course has 16 miles of drainage that's having trouble putting it anywhere."
White added that the forecast for the rest of the week was good. "We're looking pretty good after this gets out of here," he said.
The BMW Championship is the third of four events on the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup play-off series. Fiji's Vijay Singh won the first two events, all but locking up the US $10m bonus awarded to the play-off winner.
