Aberdeen's search for a striker to replace Lee Miller, expected to leave at the end of the season, has been stepped up with Pavol Masaryk, who plays for SK Slovan Bratislava, their target.
Jimmy Calderwood, the Pittodrie manager, refused to confirm the move but watched the striker score in a 3-0 win over AS Trencin two weeks ago and is set to follow up his initial interest in the player.
There was further transfer news from the north east club yesterday with Derek Soutar, until recently their first-choice goalkeeper, being sought by MLS side, Houston Dynamo.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper, frozen out at Pittodrie where his current contract ends in the summer, will travel to Texas at the close of the season for trial with the club, coached by John Spencer, the former Motherwell and Rangers striker.
Meanwhile, Aberdeen have announced a freeze on season tickets prices for next term.
Duncan Fraser, the club's managing director, said he recognised how costly it had been for their fans this season because of their UEFA Cup campaign and wanted to reflect that in the revised charges.
"We felt it was only right to hold prices at current levels," he admitted, "as a thank you for the backing the fans have given us."
