I WAS shocked and disappointed with the Enfield summer show.

I took some friends there with my six-year-old son especially because the advertisement in your July 15 issue mentioned 'helicopter slides, circus workshops and vintage vehicles' -- none of these existed!

When we asked about the helicopter we were told it was cancelled owing to the wind. Well I think this should have been posted outside the entrance so that people could decide whether they still wanted to pay the entrance fee.

The `circus workshop' consisted of a lone juggler who denied knowledge of any workshop; a workshop implies `audience participation' by its very name.

I know that the funds were raised for a good cause but I don't believe in raising money under false pretences.

There were a lot of very disappointed children and a lot of parents who were angry that no one had given them the option to change their minds about going in -- especially since the helicopter rides and circus workshops were among the only things that made this show appear different to the ordinary run-of-the-mill, small-scale funfair for which, usually, no entrance charge is levied.
