Crystal Palace boss Trevor Francis was pleased with the way his side came back to snatch a point from Wimbledon at Selhurst Park. He said: "I think it was merited. I discussed one or two things with the chairman before the game. He mentioned about the Wolves game when we went a goal behind. I was thinking about his comments when we conceded the goal. We showed when we went a goal behind that we can play well and we came back to draw the game."

Palace went behind to a Damien Francis header from a Neil Ardley corner on seven minutes, after an Ade Akinbiyi effort was ruled out.

"One player in particular who I won't name didn't pick up Francis. He knows who he is and as a result we found ourselves a goal behind," said the Palace manager. "Then the chairman's comments began to ring in my ears."

Crystal Palace equalised through Ireland international Clinton Morrison ten minutes before the end of the match, after his Republic rival David Connolly had missed a string of chances for the home side.

Terry Burton said: "I think we had some good chances. We played the ball around really well and Palace's only breaks came on the counter-attack. In the second half Palace began to play a bit more. They tried hard and we had to defend certain situations well.

"I was disappointed with the goal because we have defended well in this league over the previous six games."
