IN what was their worst performance of the season, Westcombe Park were beaten 15-5 by bottom-of-the-table Weston-Super-Mare in their National League Two South match at Goddington Dene on Saturday.

After kicking off, Combe hardly entered Weston's half again. There were plenty of scrums and lineouts, but not a great deal of open play.

Weston opened the scoring when Calvin Venn scrambled over for a try.

The second-half started with the normally reliable Derek Coates missing a penalty and then Lestyn Williams scored a second try for the visitors.

Combe finally got on the score-sheet when Jonathon Bennett went over in the corner, but once again Coates failed with his conversion.

Paul Redman sealed the win for Weston with a penalty kick following an infringement.

Combe are at home on Sunday against Ashford in the first round of the Kent Cup.

Beckenham completed an unlikely, and spectacular double over arch-rivals Sevenoaks. In a match lacking quality but never drama, Becks looked dead and buried inside the first 10 minutes when they found themselves 18 points down.

But the boot of Hixson started a revival with a penalty and then Frank Muir scored a try.

Tony North scored another touchdown for the home side just after the interval.

With just minutes to go, John Jackson was brought on and immediately kicked a 40-metre penalty under immense pressure.

Orpington failed to pick up any league points despite coming very close in a 14-12 defeat by Old Williamsonians.

Orpington led for most of the game through a Stuart Mahoney try, followed by a bull-dozing touchdown from Tim Spear.

However, some indiscipline brought two yellow cards for the home side and Old Williamsonians' soon capitalised with a try and three penalties to clinch a narrow victory.

Orpington captain Mark Garratt was not exactly happy. He said: "The team played like dipsticks. They were well oiled but the engine still stalled!"

Old Dunstonians went on a try rampage against Park House in their London Four South East clash at Langley Park.

They ran in seven tries, five of which were converted and two penalties. Park House could only manage three tries with one conversion in reply.
