A DISABLED driver was taunted by youths when he returned to his car to find a window smashed and his radio gone.

Irving Radnor, 53, who is wheel-chair bound, returned to Westgate Car Park, in Dartford, after a night out with a friend to find his car radio stolen. Mr Radnor, of Hays, in Bromley, became frightened as the youths circled his car, parked in a disabled bay on the ground floor, as he tried to clear glass from the shattered window.

He said: Youths were slowing down, opening their windows, taunting me and laughing out loud saying things about disability. I just want to stop any other disabled person going to the car park and experiencing what I have.

Residents who live near Westgate car park have already complained about the youths.

They say the noise coming from the car stereos makes their walls vibrate and are urging the council to take action by employing a security guard.

A Dartford Borough Council spokesman said: We are saddened to hear about the incident, and will discuss the issue with the police to see whether they believe the council should implement further measures in the car park.

It would be disappointing if a public facility had to be closed at night because of the actions of a few.
