CHESHAM United's Ryman League clash with Enfield was postponed at the weekend after the North London side's secretary collapsed and died following a heart-attack at Chesham's Meadow ground.
Chesham boss Bob Dowie and club physio Jude Monteath briefly revived Enfield's Keith Hughes after he collapsed in the changing rooms an hour-and-a-half before the match, but he later died. He was in his mid-60s.
Mr Dowie told Midweek: "His heart wasn't beating and he'd stopped breathing. Jude and I gave him CPR and worked on him for about 20 minutes and managed to bring him back.
"But five minutes later he had another heart attack and I believe he died in the ambulance on the way to hospital."
The match was called off following the incident which left the Enfield boss and players too distressed to play.
Mr Dowie added: "We did what we could for him, but unfortunately it wasn't enough."
