A BUS driver has been treated for minor injuries after a double decker
smashed into a block of flats in Edinburgh city centre.

Emergency service crews were called to the West Port area
of the Grassmarket at around 9pm after the No 2 Lothian Buses service to
the Jewel careered off the road and demolished a bus stop before
hitting the building.

A breath test on the driver was negative and the police said no-one
had been arrested. However, the busy road was closed for about
three hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage.

Herald reader Martin McLaughlan sent in these images of the accident.
He said: "There was a loud bang, which sounded like a bomb explosion,
and we ran down the stairs.
"The driver neded treatment but it looked like it was lucky no-one else was hurt."
