Sexy man and stylish wife – why female voters choose Camerons
More women want to see David Cameron as Prime Minister because they like his wife and would fancy marrying him, according to a magazine poll.
Nearly two-thirds of the 2000 women questioned by Grazia magazine agreed Samantha Cameron has "the best first lady style", compared with Sarah Brown and Nick Clegg's wife Miriam Gonzalez Durantez.
But Mrs Cameron has some competition - 62% said they would like to marry David and think he would be good in bed.
Grazia editor Jane Bruton says: "It's clear that the political sands are shifting. The women who would once have voted for Labour without a second thought are feeling now that Cameron is more in tune with their lives."
The magazine says women aged 25 to 45 are the UK's largest floating voter group, and are becoming more politicised - 91% of those polled intend to vote in the next general election, compared with 64% last time. They could sway the outcome, Grazia says.
A third would now vote Conservative and 14% back Labour - at the last election, 27% voted for Tony Blair's government.
The poll reveals women look for the same qualities in a prime minister as in a partner or friend, including strong morals and a sense of humour. More than half thought the premier also needs "charisma and sex appeal".
Of survey respondents, 62% said
they would like to "throw Gordon Brown off a cliff", compared with 34% for Mr Cameron.
Ms Bruton said: "When women think of David Cameron, they can imagine him being a husband or a friend. Gordon Brown's more private but in today's society it's not enough to just see the politician. We need to see more of the man."
The poll also revealed that women want a British version of Hillary Clinton to identify with. Half declared they could not think of one female UK politician that they liked.
For the poll, 2000 women aged between 20 and 45 - the magazine's Grazia Generation - were questioned.

Tunnock, I think that sadly you are making a mistake. People vote for a party/ leader for a variety of reasons, but there is no doubt that some have completely shallow reasons for doing so. Many individuals relate the way they vote to how they view individuals in their own lives. I agree with your sentiment (ffs), but find it sadly realistic.

What abou Alec Salmond? If women vote on the basis of how good you are in bed it might encourage him to lose some weight.
Do women vote on this basis anyway? It would be terrible if Alec lost the independemce referendum for this reason.

I agree with Karin this article is insulting to women who take politics seriously. What do you expect from a magazine that plays such a big part in the dumbing down of women. These kind of publications keep their readers focused on the most shallow aspects of our culture. As a woman i am embarrassed this article has made it into a "serious" newspaper.

Its not an offending article in the least. Its just a bit of fun and those who say offends possibly got upset when Jonathan Ross asked David Cameron ever he ever thought of Mrs Thatcher on a sexual note. Whats happening to the Scottish sense of humour. Look at the joke Wendy made last week and everyone took her seriously. Or that other Sottish Joke..Gordon Brown

Gordon did a shooting session for Cosmopolitan dressed in a string tanga. Should be out for sale in July.
