PM’s son to attend a state school
John Brown, the Prime Minister's eldest son, is to attend a state school near Downing Street, it was revealed last night.
The four-year-old has been allocated a place at Millbank Primary School in Westminster, not far from the Houses of Parliament.
"Gordon and Sarah Brown can confirm that their son, John, has been given a place at Millbank Primary School in Westminster," said a No 10 spokesman. "In common with other aspects of their children's lives, they regard John's schooling as a private matter and they will not be making any further comment."
Millbank Primary is believed to be the closest non-faith school to No 10 and John attends a nursery nearby.
It has around 210 pupils and 24 different languages are spoken there. Its performance was well above the national average for Key Stages 1 and 2 last year.
His decision about his son's schooling will prove less controversial than his predecessor Tony Blair's.
The former PM decided to send his son Euan to the London Oratory, a grant-maintained school in south- west London, which used selection to choose its admissions.
News that John Brown will attend a community school emerged after David Cameron disclosed details of his schooling choices.
The Tory leader and his wife Samantha have a place for daughter, Nancy, at St Mary Abbots Church of England School in Kensington.
Mr Brown revealed that John and his younger son, Fraser, had been keeping him awake but stressed that family always came first.
"The most important thing is being a good father and a good parent, as you know, and nothing I do will neglect my children," he said.

Well I would have thought so. Westminster is hardly likely to be a sink estate? Are we supposed to be impressed with him holding to his socialist principles?

Even if it was Niddrie Primary, I have a feeling he would sacrifice his kid for Labour staying in power.
This is obviously a cheap publicity statement. Wullie, I've no doubt it is a state school, but, with the Billions of tax-payers money being pumped into the infrastructure round Westminster and the SE of England in general. I doubt if there will be many Private Schools that could boast it's facilities.
Problem is that the poor we chap will have to move school in a couple of years when his dad looses his parliamentary seat.

After the horrendous week he's had, I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and accept that he believes in state education. After all, he went to a state school unlike his predecessor.I don't think it's a publicity stunt at all.

Brilliant post Donald. How true. Does that just sum everything up. The sad thing is he probably thinks just the same. Hopefully it will at least be plausible compared to the artificial one his dad has acquired probably at taxpayer's expense.

Or you could check their Ofsted report. Go to [italic]www.ofsted.gov.uk[/italic] , search on "Millbank Westminster" and then look at the Section 5 report as a pdf. Here's the description of the school from that report:

An overwhelming majority of pupils are from minority ethnic groups. A much larger than average proportion of pupils is in the early stages of learning English, with Arabic and Bengali being the main languages spoken.

SPIN SPIN SPIN SPIN......
The other day it was about Brown being more 'human'
On Andrew Marr, it was he's a very 'private person' bu conceded that he needed to maybe be a bit more outgoing.
Stick to policies Brown, try coming up with some that the people actually want rather than your usual cynical stealth taxation and public spending wastage.

A desperate man will do desperate acts.
Make no mistake about the shallowness of the labour political machine, they will stoop to the lowest levels and sling the dirtiest mud to keep themselves in power.

I think that maybe Brown needs to sit down with his bestest pals Kylie and Shakira and write a new song.
Something like "I Should Be So Lucky" or "The Lips Don't Lie" featuring UB Alexander.
Did I ever tell you that Brown gives me the dry boak?

So, despite being wealthy enough to privately educate his son in the best possible schools, Broon is willing to sacrifice the interests of his own family to boost his political credentials within the Labour Party.
If he will do this with his nearest and dearest, imagine what he would be willing to do to us for his career.
