Labour back-bench MSPs are being warned against indiscipline through the case of Helen Eadie, who faces disciplinary action over her refusal to serve on two Holyrood committees.

The party's whip, Michael McMahon, MSP group chair Duncan McNeil and deputy leader Cathy Jamieson were yesterday involved in trying to force the Dunfermline East MSP to take the two places.

But they have given in to her continued refusal, and are now looking for a replacement MSP. Disciplinary proceedings against her are "ongoing".

Mrs Eadie said last week she was refusing to serve on any committee while the Conservatives had the chair of the Equal Opportunities group.
