EDUCATION
Councils required to ensure all secondary pupils have at least one overseas visit; an hour of PE every day; a playgroup place for all two-year-olds; all-day childcare provision available within 10 years; P1 to become transition year at nursery, with formal school starting aged six.

CRIME
No jail sentences of less than three months, unless judged to be required for public safety - replaced with tougher community sentences; 1000 more community police; rise to maximum seven-year jail sentence for carrying a knife; Prison Service to become Scottish Custody and Rehabilitation Service, with annual targets on reduced reoffending.

HEALTH
100 new community health centres, providing wide range of services under one roof; new grade of physician assistant to take pressure off doctors and nurses; councils to have more power over health boards, and eventually over primary health spending; diagnostic waiting times to be reduced below current 18-week target.

RURAL
Rural houses would require planning permission to have change of use to holiday homes and easing of rules to convert derelict and farm buildings; rural community hubs to strengthen local services, including Post Office network; pilot of "unplugged houses" with own energy generation; food labelling to include "food miles" to show environment impact of getting it to market.

YOUTH
Youth Parliament given increased role; National Centre for Youth Leadership; pupil councils in all schools, and youth councils at all local authorities; UN Charter on Rights of the Child to be enshrined in law.

OTHER
Business rates cut to below English levels from next year; Westminster asked to hand over road tax powers, so Holyrood can substitute vehicle excise with road user tolls; Centres for Independent Living, to support disabled people; Inverness rail links to be improved, and low-emission trains introduced.
