Palace were unlucky not to take three points from this game as they were thwarted by negative Huddersfield.

With both teams struggling to stay clear of the relegation zone, it was Palace who were the most positive and the Eagles forward line will feel frustrated by their inability to beat Huddersfield keeper Nico Vaesen, who came to his side's rescue on a number of occasions.

The first half gave little for both sets of fans to cheer about with wet and blustery conditions making for a less than skilful spectacle.

Had Tommy Black gone to ground when he was challenged by Vaesen after Mikael Forssell had put him through on 24 minutes, Palace may well have been awarded a penalty. As it was, Vaesen's timely challenge at Black's feet was enough to avert the danger.

Despite the visitors setting out their defensive stall in the first half, it was they who came the closest to scoring thanks to a thunderous 20-yard volley from Delroy Facey just before half-time which produced a tremendous save from Aleksandrs Kolinko.

Alan Smith's half-time team talk seemed to do the trick for the Eagles who bombarded the Huddersfield defence for much of the opening stages of the second half, but the gritty Yorkshiremen managed to ride the storm before creating a couple of chances of their own.

But, on 65 minutes, an exquisite Clinton Morrison curling volley drifted inches wide with Vaesen well beaten. And with five minutes to go, the lively Morrison should have clinched the game for Palace when he found himself clean through as he latched onto David Hopkin's cheeky header, but Vaesen was again on hand to produce a stunning save.

Although Alan Smith's men will have been disappointed not to follow up Saturday's victory against Crewe with another valuable three points, a good attacking performance, typified by the clever link-up play of Morrison and Forssell, will be enough to give Eagles fans hope that things are looking up.
