TWO parish councillors have resigned. Chairman Angela Hart expressed her regret but extended thanks to Michael Whitney for his wide-ranging service to the village and Pete Summerskill who had been a diligent chairman of the planning committee. Electors have to write to the district council if they wish to have an election otherwise the parish council may co-opt.

PLANS to remove the scaffolding around the Methodist Church in High Street have been abandoned. Work was started last Tuesday but by Thursday workmen had become worried about the roof. It is Grade II listed in a conservation area, built of local wychert similar to cob and would have to be re-instated. Also the museum, housed in the former church schoolroom, cannot be reopened.

IF you have a National Children's Home collection box, please return it to Jane Rose so that she can count the money. Maisie's coffee mornings, normally held in the Methodist Church on Tuesdays will be held at Hill Cottage on October 16 and 16 Wykeham Way on October 23.

HADDENHAM Player's Old Time Musical Hall played to capacity audiences at the Youth and Community Centre. Many people wore period costume and there was a competition for the best hat. The producer, Linda Axford, had written the traditional melodrama and Michael White was a ventriloquist with Harry Munday as his dummy. Pianist Heather Woods was thanked for her hard work.

ST MARY'S Church held its harvest festival service on Sunday morning. Wright's bakery donated the bread sheaf and similar donations have been made to the other churches in the village.

SATURDAY October 13, from11am to 4pm there is a garden sale at 98 Churchway in aid of St Mary's Bell Fund with plants, garden sundries, cakes, refreshments.

LOCAL artists Pauline Pledger and Pauline Deeprose are holding an exhibition also on Saturday October 13, from 10am to 5.30pm in the Walter Rose Room at the village hall.

THE Hunca Munca Baby and Toddler Group is holding a coffee morning on Thursday, October 18 at St Mary's Centre from 10am to midday.

ST MARY'S Church, which is open daily for private prayer, is to hold special meetings on Thursdays October 18, 25 and November 1 from 12.30pm to 2pm for those who are concerned about the present world situation.
