Music lovers enjoyed a bumper time at this year's civic festival with more concerts catering for varied musical tastes.

Concerts during the festival fortnight were nearly all sold out, said town council organisers.

Although the jazz night suffered from an unenviable clash with England's Titanic struggle with Argentina in the World Cup Football on Tuesday last week.

The Andy Panayi Quartet performed a festival jazz evening at the BBC Elstree Centre.

"Ticket sales were almost halved for the jazz because of the football, but everything else was sold out," said spokesman for the Elstree and Borehamwood Town Council.

The sounds of brass were provided by the Borehamwood Brass Band at its festival concert on Wednesday when they played at All Saints Church.

And to round off the musical repertoire the Regency Winds Quartet played a combination of flute, oboe, clarinet and piano to the likes of composers Miller and Mancini on Thursday.
