The seemingly never-ending Palace takeover saga took another twist this week as Ron Noades publicly stated he is considering taking less than £30m to help Mark Goldberg complete the deal for the club's sake.
Doubts have been raised over whether Goldberg can raise the funding but Noades is so desperate to see the situation resolved that he is willing to sell for less than was originally agreed.
An announcement is expected to be made by Goldberg today (Wednesday).
Meanwhile, as Palace play out their last Premiership games, confusion still reigns supreme on the pitch as well as off it.
If, as expected, Goldberg does take over it will allow Terry Venables to assume control in time for the new season.
Coach Brian Sparrow is the latest man to have control of team selection and not Ray Lewington as was first reported.
First team coach Lewington, who has just returned after a serious knee operation, is helping out again with coaching duties while Attilio Lomabrdo is back in a purely playing role. Completing the confusion on the playing side, Tomas Brolin and Michele Padovano are expected to lead the Selhurst Park summer exodus after once again being left out of the squad for last night's London derby with West Ham.
Swede Brolin was absolutely hammered in the daily papers for his performance in last week's defeat by Man Utd.
The rotund midfielder still obviously has the talent that once made him one of Europe's most highly rated players.
But there are still very big question marks over his fitness and workrate.
And temperamental Italian Padovano has failed to make an impression since returning from injury and there are serious doubts over his attitude.
He has reacted like a stroppy teenager each time he has been substituted, stomping off down the tunnel and not bothering to watch his team mates.
There is mounting speculation that he could well be on his way back to Italy during the summer - a major disappointment after his early promise.
