A four-year-old boy was taken to hospital on Sunday after his father's car collided with a tree in Theobald Street, Borehamwood.
He was kept in over night for observation at Barnet General with suspected head injuries and released the next day.
An air ambulance was called but the boy and his father, who live in Borehamwood, were taken to hospital by land ambulance.
Both are thought to have suffered minor injuries and are now recovering.
Following the accident, police closed off part of the road for two and a half hours in order to recover the car. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
