Campaigners have accused Enfield North MP Joan Ryan of dismissing their concerns about the controversial Small Arms development.

It follows a meeting between the Labour MP and the Enfield Lock Action Group Association (ELAGA).

Dorothy Johnson from ELAGA said Ms Ryan did not appear to take their views seriously. She said: "We were very disappointed to say the least. We didn't feel we were helped in any way by the meeting."

But Ms Ryan described the allegations as unfair and said: "I understand people get upset. But I don't think anyone has met with them more than I have and I take this issue very seriously."

ELAGA is concerned about traces of dangerous chemicals found on the site of the former munitions factory at Enfield Lock. Local people are also worried about the increased traffic and demand for school places and services when people move into the new homes.

Ms Ryan has arranged three further meetings between residents and council officers in the forthcoming two months.
