Southall 1
Kingsbury Town 0
Kingsbury's improved form, which saw them go down by the odd goal to second-placed Hertford Town in midweek, totally escaped them at bottom club Southall on Saturday.
After a battling display against the Hertfordshire side which saw them lose to a 30-yard thunderbolt which would have graced the Premier League, Town fell apart on Saturday as they visited the same county to take on Southall at Tring - their adopted home whilst they sort out their own ground.
Southall, bottom club in the Ryman League Third Division for the last three seasons, and the only team currently below Kingsbury, took the initiative from the off.
In the second minute Southall's Jose Aluite crept in unmarked and fired a shot against the far post.
He wasn't so unlucky three minutes later when, after poor Kingsbury defending, he was left free and sent home a left foot shot from 15 yards to score the only goal of the game.
Town, who seemed to have constant problems at the back during the first period, had a chance to equalise in the 37th minute, but Southall's veteran custodian Kenny Lavender (he spent many seasons with Northwood) pulled off a double save from Gary Dolling and Tyrone Jones.
A minute later Southall should have gone two ahead when Alan Galloway was clear with an open goal, but failed to convert.
Town looked more confident in the second half and James Power was unlucky to see his shot go just wide in the 50th minute, but at the other end Southall came even closer in the 69th when Dominic Gilford saw his shot rebound off the crossbar.
Town manager John Clements livened up affairs when he brought on substitutes Ulysses Ferrero and Geoff Rowe.
Southall's Lavender pulled off the save of the match to deny Brazilian Ferrero making his Town debut and a minute from time stopped Rowe grabbing a vital point for the visitors.
East Thurrock are the visitors to Silver Jubilee Park on Saturday.
Second from bottom Town beat them away in one of their early season games, but since then the fortunes of both teams have worked in opposite directions with East Thurrock moving up to the top end of the table.
The Kingsbury management team of Clements and coach Alan Rowe are still looking for their first win.
They have had a draw, three 1-0 defeats and one of 8-0 since they arrived at the club, but completing Town's first double of the season with a win over Thurrock will be a tall order on current form.
KINGSBURY: Noble, Page, Powell, Kingshott, O'Rourke, Power, Hughes, Antwi, Dolling, Jones, Ryan. Subs: White, Rowe, Ferrero all used.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
