THE Carnival Committee are working hard on plans for Village Carnival Day which is on Saturday, July 13. With the theme of The 1950s, to coincide with the Queen's Golden Jubilee, they are hoping for a really memorable day. The Jubilee Queen and her attendants will be chosen at the Jubilee Disco on Friday, June 28. June seems a long way off but

all the villages will be competing for the crowds on the same day, so the Carnival Committee will need a lot of support. The carnival will take place throughout both villages, with stalls and fun items dotted around. The carnival chairman will be delighted to hear from additional volunteers on 01844 343113.

SCARECROWS, preferably life size for the WI competition (entry forms are in Hallmark magazine) for under 16s, 16+ and adults. They hope for both traditional and non-traditional scarecrows and are relying on lots of creative talent for which there will be prizes.

THERE is still a substantial loan to be repaid to the parish council for the Millennium Hall, and so an Auction of Promises will be held there on Saturday, March 16. Additional pledges will be well received by the co-ordinators on 01844 334021, or 01844 343089, as will bidding on the day.
