POLICE are appealing for witnesses to two street robberies in St Albans and Radlett in which two men were attacked and one threatened with a gun.

On Tuesday, February 12, at around a 33-year-old Radlett man was walking home from the train station along Scripts Park Road when two men approached him from behind.

One of the men put his arm around the victim's neck while the other man held what was believed to be a gun to his cheek and stole a wallet containing £120 cash. The robbers also took a mobile phone and laptop computer as they told the victim to lie on the ground while they ran away.

One of the offenders is described as black, 18 to 30 years old, 5ft 8in and was wearing a dark padded jacket.

The second robbery took place at around 6.15pm on Monday, February 11, near Verulam Road in St Albans.

A 27-year-old man was walking along a footpath between Folly Lane and Verulam Road when he was attacked by two men who told him to remain on the ground as they took his laptop computer.

Detective Sergeant Andy Dixon from the Hertfordshire Area Crime Unit, said: "These were nasty robberies, particularly the one in Radlett, but although the two incidents are similar we do not believe at this stage they are linked.

"I would, however, urge anyone who witnessed either of the robberies or who believes they may have seen the offenders in the area, to contact us straight away."
