THERE will be 180 fewer drink-drivers on the road this autumn thanks to a concentrated summer crackdown by Thames Valley Police.
The arrests were made by the force's traffic officers during a one-month offensive across Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and Oxfordshire.
Persistent drink-drivers were targeted using information from calls made to the Crimestoppers hotline and the traffic department's intelligence-led approach.
Officers from Buckinghamshire arrested 67 offenders, from Berkshire 74 and Oxfordshire 39.
In a similar campaign last year 179 arrests were made.
Inspector Dave Hartin, of Thames Valley Police, said: "Sadly, despite persistent advice and warnings about the dangers and consequences of drink-driving, some anti-social people continue to ignore that advice.
"We target persistent drink-drive offenders all year round but this campaign highlights how there are too many people out there still prepared to flout the drink drive law."
