JACKSON GRIFFITHS of Bishop's Stortford Running Club was amongst 4,000 hardy men who travelled to Wolverhampton for the 11th Tough Guy event.

The challenging race took in a ten-mile cross country run followed by a battle through 30 obstacles. On his way to a time of 2hr 6min, Griffith had to tackle 40-foot rope climbs, face electric wires, run through fire and swim under water in freezing conditions.

On the same day, the Benfleet 15-mile race took place at Canvey Island. The first Stortford finisher was Brian Glazebrook in a time of 1hr 44min 45sec.

Following up were Peter Beatty (1hr 45min 46sec), Tim Dedman (1:52:12), Andy White (1:56:16), Chris Tate (2:02:12), Marc Lambert (2:05:59), Leigh Bradford (2:12:30), Paul Row (2:18:26), Phillip Last (2:39:39), Maureen Wakeling (2:43:30), Gillian Warren and Lorriane Evans (2:45), and Terry Robinson (2:50).
