Barnet Saracens Elizabethans resume their London League Division Three (North-West) programme on Saturday when they entertain Ealing, who beat them in November, kick-off 2.15pm.

Ealing are lying second, with Barnet fourth. But not even the most optimistic supporters of the local club consider they are in a realistic position to challenge for promotion to London Two, in which they played until the leagues were restructured two seasons ago.

The results from the first half of the season show that they have lost to the top three sides, all of whom they have to play agsin, starting with Ealing.

However, Barnet beat Ealing at home last season, avenging the defeat they suffered away, so it will be a test of fitness and stamina as to which side can keep on winning when the mud and rain starts to take its toll.

On the soggy pitches at Byng Road, there could be testing times for the leading sides who all have to travel to Barnet, beaten by Harpenden in their last match last month.

Barnet Saracens Elizabethans are away to Hertford in the Herts President's Cup first round on Sunday, January 20, and the winners will be at home to Letchworth in the second round next month.
