A SCHOOLBOY from Bromley won a writing competition with an essay on global conservation.
James Assock, of Highfield Junior School, South Hill Road, Shortlands, won the London heat of Write Here/Write Now 2001.
The competition, organised by the Government's education department, promotes writing among schoolchildren. The 10-year-old's essay, which looks at animals and the environment, will now compete with other entries for the national prize.
James has won a trip to the Globe Theatre and will have his piece published in a book of winning entries. The school gets £100 of book vouchers and £100 of CD ROM vouchers.
