Orpington Ojays finished runners-up to Burgess Hill in the Ted Mesure Trophy gala held at the Trinity School pool.

There were strong swims and plenty of first places from the older swimmers but the points gained were insufficient to compensate for the lower placings by many of the younger swimmers.

There were individual wins in the under-16 girls events by Charlotte Kent (back), Claire Marrow (free) and Emma Spearman in the butterfly. The trio were joined by Sarah Peters to win both the U16 medley and freestyle relays.

Anita Oliver took the ladies Open free and back events, while Abigail Denman won the Open breaststroke. Gemma Stroud helped Anita and Abigail along with Emma Spearman to win the Open medley event and with Claire Marrow replacing Emma, they also took the Open freestyle relay.

Aaron Edmonds won under-14 breaststroke with Matthew Steere successful in the under-14 freestyle. These two combined with Jonathan Booton and Dimitris Mitakos to win the medley relay.

Alex Spooner won the under-16 freestyle event and was a member of the winning freestyle relay team alongside Tom Briggs, Aaron Edmonds and Darren Menezes.
