AN environmental crackdown in Lewisham led to 10 people being fined for dropping cigarette litter in the streets.
During the joint operation between Lewisham Council and the police, each of the 10 were fined £25.
Warning leaflets were handed out to commuters, residents and school children in the areas surrounding Lewisham Theatre, Catford Bridge Station, Laurence House and Canadian Avenue.
Deputy for environment Councillor Paul Fallon said: "Catford town centre is a constant eyesore due to the enormous amount of litter dropped here. Its time for every resident, commuter and employee, to do their bit to help clean-up Lewisham."
