Pupils at Swanley secondary school were covered in mud last Friday as they cleared out the rubbish from their school pond.

The project was part of Make a Difference Day, a national campaign aimed at getting people to give up a day to improve the community they live in.

Headteacher Ros Avison said: The pupils had a lot of fun, and came away feeling they had contributed something to the community and Swanley. I hope they now have a greater environmental awareness.

The pupils were helped by volunteers from North West Kent Countryside. It specialises in improving the look of the countryside.
