Catering students from a college in Gravesend got a taste of what it is like to run a kitchen. The students, who are from North West Kent College in Dering Way, helped the caterers at Bridgewood Manor Hotel in Walderslade Woods Hotel, near Chatham. Their work experience was part of a two-year BTEC National Diploma in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Operations. Linda Boone, the college's division leader for hospitality and catering, said: “The week was great fun and the students really enjoyed the experience. It has helped them with their college work by bringing their class notes alive. All of the hotel staff were very supportive.” Simon Steele, the hotel's assistant general manger, added: “The students have demonstrated that the skills and experience they have gained from the course at college have prepared them for work in a four star hotel.”
