TRAIN drivers' union boss Mick Rix will be the star speaker at a public meeting on the state of Britain's railways.

Mr Rix, general secretary of Aslef, will talk about his members' complaints about the state of the rails before the Hatfield crash, their fears for the safety of passengers and the disruption caused to train services.

He will answer questions and he will speak about the Bring Back the Track campaign launched by all the rail unions to returned Railtrack into public ownership.

The campaign has already received the support of more than 100 MPs.

The meeting has been organised by Greenwich and Bexley Trades Union Council at Bexleyheath and Crayford Labour Party rooms, 67 Pickford Lane, Bexleyheath, on March 26 at 7.30pm.
