I was so angered by the shameless hypocrisy of the PubSpy article concerning the taking of drugs in public houses (News Shopper, January 3). I have never taken cocaine, and do not feel any reason to start using it, but what right does anyone who uses alcohol as a recreational drug have to condemn the users of other drugs? Virtually all the cases of violence and loutish behaviour in the borough are a result of alcohol misuse, not class A drugs. The breweries of this country make a huge profit out of the misery they cause. Drug use, like it or loathe it, is a fact of life in our society and the prohibition of any substance is doomed to failure.
