EURO MP Mrs Eryl McNally has been appointed Vice-President of an all-party group in the European Parliament established to consider issues concerned with "sky and space".
Mrs McNally, who lives in Abbots Langley, said: "The group will be looking into a wide range of issues for the EU to initiate, promote or support.
"Much of the Parliament's work relies upon a consensus between different groups.
"So it's important to have cross-party dialogue on these very important matters.
"I will certainly do my best to play a very active part.
"Through the work of this group local people will get safer air travel as a 'single sky' is created by the co-ordination of European air traffic control."
