The category of Public Campaign/Campaigner of the Year is one that is close to many people’s hearts, and as nominations are called for from the public, it is often the most poignant award at the ceremony.
Previous winners of this category have been The Shetland Sakchai Makao Campaign for it’s tireless work in securing the return to Shetland of Thai native Makao, who was under threat of deportation; David and Ozlem Grimason, who campaigned against the small arms trade after their son Alistair was tragically shot in the street in Turkey, and The Glasgow Girls, a group of seven young women from Drumchapel in Glasgow, who highlighted the poor treatment of failed asylum seekers in their community.
Who do you think has run the most effective campaign for a worthy cause in Scotland this year? Have your say on who you think has engaged with the Scottish political community and made them sit up and take notice of their campaign?
