ABOUT THE AWARDS

The Scottish Politician of the Year awards were established by The Herald in 1999 to celebrate the inception of the Scottish Parliament.

The aim is to celebrate the achievements of politicians in the Scottish Parliament and encourage benchmarks for best practice. The event also rewards the excellence of Scottish MPs at Westminster. This year the award ceremony took place at Prestonfield House Hotel in Edinburgh.
