Part Six

Here, Coelho is encouraged to describe his own ideas regarding signs and omens.

An important theme throughout his books, signs are part of, according to Coelho, one's personal alphabet of signs of spiritual significance. Through interaction with this alphabet, one can connect with divine energy. The process, though, is difficult.

Firstly, Coelho believes the individual must be brave enough to follow their instincts when it comes to omens, in order to distinguish good from bad omens. If you are brave, and are prepared to follow your instincts, you are far more likely to achieve your own destiny.

Signs and omens can only be read as guidelines, though, since one is always free to not follow them.
