An upmarket Edinburgh boutique has been chosen to stock a coveted handbag, retailing at a mere £3250, and featured in hit movie Sex and the City.

Totty Rocks is one of only six outlets in the UK to stock the Eiffel Tower piece by Timmy Woods, the Beverly Hills-based designer.

The bags have been much sought after since a publicity shot of Carrie embracing Mr Big and clutching a bag shaped like the Parisian icon was released last year.

The designer bag is showered with Swarovski crystals and hand-carved out of acacia wood.

One of the pieces now takes pride of place in a glass cabinet, surrounded by fairy lights, in the Grassmarket outlet.

Totty Rocks, which also houses the fashion label of the same name, was approached by the UK representative of Woods, to stock the bag.

Holly Campbell, co-owner of the boutique, is a huge fan of Sex and the City. She said: "We were chosen because our clothing range, as well as the style of our building, reflects the quirkiness of the bag. People actually come in just to look at the bag. It really is a beautiful piece."

Ms Campbell, a graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, said she would "miss" the bag when it is finally sold.

"There is definitely a market for it," she said. "And I'm delighted our shop was chosen for it. I'm a big fan of the designer."

Woods, the woman who also designed horse and telephone bags, created the Eiffel Tower bag - which takes two months to make - as a gift to her adopted city.

"I really wanted it to be very surreal," she has said. "I wanted it to look like it was emerging out of the clouds. Then I decided it should glitter."

Last summer, Sex costume designer Patricia Field walked into Woods's showroom and asked for the bag.

Woods had no idea how it would be featured until a friend saw the publicity still on the internet.
