The body of a Norwegian socialite dumped in the basement of a block of flats was semi-naked when discovered by police, it emerged last night.

Police investigating the death of 23-year-old Martine Vik Magnussen want to trace her jeans and valuables.

The student was last seen leaving an exclusive London nightclub in the early hours last Friday morning.

Scotland Yard refused to discuss whether there was a sexual element to the attack that left her with significant injuries to her neck.

Detectives are hunting Ms Vik Magnussen's friend Farouk Abdulhak who lived in the block of flats and fled to his native Yemen hours before her body was found.

Officers say items they have been unable to trace since her body was found partially buried under rubble in Great Portland Street on Sunday include a Guess watch, Marc Jacobs handbag, snake skin shoes and a pair of Christian Dior earrings. Jeans, described as blue and of a "skinny" fit, and a silver costume diamond ring are also missing.

Police marked a week since Ms Vik Magnussen's disappearance by speaking to revellers at the Maddox nightclub, in Mayfair, last night.

Ms Vik Magnussen had been out with her flatmates and fellow students and was last seen leaving the club sometime between 2.30am and 3.30am last Friday.

She was reported missing the following day and officers making inquiries found her body at the privately-owned flats on Sunday.

A post-mortem examination was inconclusive and detectives have ordered further scientific tests to establish exactly how she died.

The billionaire family of Mr Abdulhak, 21, said they will disown him if he is responsible for her death.

Mr Abdulhak and Ms Vik Magnussen both studied international business relations at the private Regent's Business School in Regent's Park. Mr Abdulhak's father is international businessman Shaher Abdulhak who founded Shaher Trading and whose empire includes petroleum, soft drinks, tourism and property.
