She is one of Scotland's most eligible heiresses who was once tipped as a future companion for Prince William and shared a kiss and a cuddle with actor Hugh Grant.

Rosanagh Innes-Ker, the eldest daughter of the Duke of Roxburghe, has been among the most sought-after young women in the country for more than a decade.

During that period the feisty, intelligent and stunningly beautiful heiress became known among the higher echelons of Scottish society as a vivacious party animal.

It now appears she is preparing to hang up her party dress. It has been announced that the 28-year-old is to wed Viscount Grimston, 29, the eldest son of Hertfordshire landowner, the Earl of Verulam.

Lady Innes-Ker's father, Guy Innes-Ker, the 10th Duke of Roxburghe, is a hereditary Conservative peer and one of the richest men in Britain with a fortune estimated at £85m. Her uncle, the Duke of Westminster, is worth an estimated £7bn and is said to be Britain's third-richest man.

The duke said no date had yet been fixed for when the couple would tie the knot, but he added: "It is likely the wedding and reception will be held at Floors Castle some time next year."
