Bakers put haggis pies on menu
ALISON CHIESANovember 20 2007

Pasty lovers can now celebrate St Andrew's Day with a tasty twist on Scotland's national dish set to rival the iconic Scotch pie.

Greggs Bakery chain and Macsween, the haggis specialist, have combined forces to create a delicacy that will allow Scots to toast their patron saint for a mere 89p.

Made with Scotch pie shell, haggis and topped with potatoes, the haggis pie will be in Greggs shops from November 26 until December 1.

Alan Greenshields, of Greggs, said: "St Andrew's Day is an important date in the Scottish calendar. It is only fitting that our national dish should be present during the celebrations."

Commenting on the tie-up with Greggs, Jo Macsween, spokeswoman for the Edinburgh-based haggis company, said: "It's been a real adventure working with Greggs, to create this new product."
