One of the country's top arts consultants has been appointed to manage the formation of Scotland's new arts funding body, Creative Scotland.

Anne Bonnar, who founded the consultancy Bonnar Keenlyside, is to be transition director for the body, which is to succeed the Scottish Arts Council and Scottish Screen.

Ms Bonnar has more than 30 years' experience in the cultural industry, having been general manager of the Traverse Theatre in Edinburgh and chairwoman of the Federation of Scottish Theatre, a director of the National Theatre of Scotland, and a trustee of the National Galleries of Scotland.

Dr Richard Holloway, chairman of the joint board of SAC and Scottish Screen, said: "Her wealth of experience will add value to the board's thinking."

Ms Bonnar said: "The formation of Creative Scotland offers a great opportunity to take the lead in forming a new type of cultural development agency."

She has a nine-month contract starting on November 1, which may be extended.
