FOUR accidents in as many days on Scotland's roads have left two motorcyclists dead and two seriously injured.
The latest fatality, reported yesterday by Lothian and Borders Police, happened on Wednesday evening on the A904 at the junction with the B8046 - the access road for junction 2 of the M9 - in West Lothian.
Police said that a Vauxhall Vectra being driven eastwards was in collision with a Ducati motorcycle travelling west at around 7.40pm. The 49-year-old motorcyclist died.
Two passengers from the Vauxhall, a 20-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man, were taken to Stirling Royal Infirmary where they were treated for their injuries.
The road was closed for more than four hours while accident investigators worked at the scene.
A police spokeswoman said: "We would be keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the crash."

Around an hour earlier, a 38-year-old male motorcyclist was airlifted to the Southern General Hospital in Glasgow following a crash with a Volvo lorry on the A70 at Glespin, near Douglas, Lanarkshire, approximately 200 yards west of Glen Taggart Road.
Medical staff described the motorcyclist's condition as serious. The 50-year-old lorry driver was uninjured.
The crash is being investigated by Constable Tweedlie at the Road Policing Department at Motherwell police office, who has asked any witnesses to contact him on 01698 483124.
On Tuesday, a man of 33 was killed in Airdrie Road, Caldercruix, near the junction with Forrest Road, when his motorcycle collided with a lorry.
On Sunday, one rider was seriously injured and another escaped with minor injuries when their motorcycles collided head-on on the A68 near Carter Bar in the Borders.
